Research & Development are fundamental in the creation of our repair kits . The remanufacturing department is where this all starts and where our quality of parts and accuracy of cataloguing comes from. We not only have the opportunity to test and use the parts ourselves we can make sure the parts listed against the vehicle are the correct parts. This is how we’ve catalogued these parts for the Subaru BRZ & Toyota 86.

Caliper Kits and Pistons
It’s reasonably well known that many vehicle manufacturers use the same caliper assemblies across different models. I mean, why not? Save on R&D and don’t “re-invent the wheel”. Although this is fairly common behavior, it is also common behavior in the aftermarket space to assume. Never assume.

Never assume the same is the same
The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 twins have an Akabono twin piston caliper on the front. It uses DB1491 pads which also fits the Forester SF, SG & SH models. With this, most will assume the caliper assembly therefore takes the same repair kits and Pistons. This is where we set ourselves apart from the rest. We carry more than 2000 loose rubber and hardware components in stock which allows us to match seals and boots on the spot. We created PW2346, PW20219 & PW20211 specifically for the job.

The Rear
For the rear we followed the same process. This particular rear caliper suits a vented rotor and runs DB1789 pads. Because we had no parts listed against the BRZ or 86, we made sure we followed our own process starting with some known listings from a similar era Liberty/Outback. We confirmed the Caliper Kit PW2586 & Piston PW16234 was the same. We also confirmed the fitment of Guide Pin PW20213 which has various listings across Subaru models.
In Summary
Here at Partswise we pride ourselves on accuracy of our catalogue. We utilise our workshop to further develop current listings to ensure what we sell to you, fits. We also get the opportunity to create new listings with confidence. This is because we re-built the assembly and physically know they work. So before you trust another listing from another source, consider how was this catalogued? Was it just assumed based on prior listings? or just because the pad number is the same? Many brands just follow the other brand, was the brand with the listings correct? We’ve seen many times over, they weren’t.
